yikes! Hope my mom doesn't read this one.

Dane and I have a habit of looking at the sexual predators in our area especially when we first move in to make sure were not living right next door to one. It is good to be aware but also can get spooky. In Kingsburg I discovered that my neighbor right across the street and a few houses down was a convicted rapist. I comforted myself because he had kids and a wife and seemed to be living a very normal life. But always thought about it when I walked by and waved.
So about a week ago Dane and I looked at all the faces on the ambersite in our little town here. We had our door open tonight with just the screen door. We heard someone yell in our house "is anyone home?" Dane went to the door with Jacob and the man seemed friendly enough. He asked if we had a place for him to stay because he heard we had an extra room. Very strange. I went out of hearing distance not thinking anything much just busy getting dinner ready. Then Jacob comes in and tells me not to go outside because Daddy is talking with a very bad guy. WHAT? I headed for the door, but Jacob kept saying don't go over there mom. So now I was spooked and told Jacob I was just going to peak out the window with the phone in hand. I expected to see Dane in a fist fight or something but he was just talking to the lady neighbor across the street. Anyway. During the conversation with the guy Dane recognized him as a pedophile from the pictures last week, and had also had another conversation about him with someone from work. Dane told this guy that he knew who he was, and he was not welcome near our home. He felt he needed to be very firm with him to never come near our home again. With Jacob standing there he told Jacob if he ever saw this man (pointing to him) to run and tell mommy and daddy. Dane really felt his intentions were not good. Wow what boldness. I'm not worried about it. I'm pretty sure Dane said some things that would make this guy think twice before coming to our home again. I'm grateful to have a husband that is such a protector and listens to his gut.

Oh my! What a scary thing - I am glad Dane was home for you. There are some crazy people out there. Awareness is key - good job for your guys! We have gone on those sights too - but not for awhile. Probably should look again! By the way - We love the name Clayton - obviously... But we do call him Clay all the time! That would be fun!

That is so scary. I'm glad that your hubby was home. It just goes to show you that no matter where you live you always need to be careful. What are the odds that a random man stops at your door and asks to stay at your house? Wierd!!

You just never know anymore. It's so sad to me to realize what the world is like now. I'm glad Dane was home to protect you and your kids. Good luck!

that was a real eye opener post for me and frightening too. I think I may just have to do some searching about what could possibly be in OUR neighborhood!
thanks for sharing!!
